COUN 2600 - Culture-Centered Social and Emotional Learning in the Schools
1.5 hours
Focuses on the inclusion of social emotional learning (SEL) in school environments, including relevance to cultural factors and individual mental health. Students will be encouraged to consider how educational professionals assess and cultivate preK-12 students’ healthy identities, emotional expressions, supportive relationships and personal/collective goals. Content includes how educators can utilize SEL practices to foster equity and excellence in schools that support students’ mental health.
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the teacher education program.
Corequisite(s): LTEC 2600 .
