The Master of Education with a major in curriculum and instruction is designed to enhance the knowledge and expertise of educators, combining theoretical perspectives and research-based practice. Its goal is to support educators as they assume leadership roles.
Admission requirements
- A valid Texas teaching certificate or equivalent.
- Admission to the Toulouse Graduate School as a degree-seeking candidate with a major in curriculum and instruction.
- Submission of GRE scores, essay, letter of intent and resume. Contact the academic program for information concerning additional admission requirements.

Degree requirements
This degree requires a minimum of 36 semester credit hours. Required courses, 18 hours
Academic resource areas, 18 hours
Each student must complete at least four courses from a specific resource area. The additional two courses, selected with the consent of the advisor, may come from the same resource area or another. Resource areas include the following:
- Mathematics education at middle school and high school levels
- Literacy education
- Early childhood education
- School administration
- Gifted/talented education
- Technology
- Diversity
- ESL and bilingual education
- Counseling
- Special education
Note
A portfolio and an inquiry project are required of each candidate. They will be continually developed throughout the program and presented in the capstone course, EDCI 5720 . |
