The nuclear engineering technology major is designed to provide breadth of training for engineers and related technical personnel at the Luminant Comanche Peak Steam Electric Station. The program has a strong foundation in mathematics and science and adds nuclear engineering principles ranging from materials science to reactor design. Courses in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical circuit design, electric power generation and automatic control systems augment the curriculum. The program enhances the reactor operator training provided by Luminant by stressing the fundamentals of underlying physical and engineering principles behind many plant operating procedures.
Nuclear engineering technology is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET (111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202; 410-347-7700).

A minimum of 124 semester hours, of which 42 must be advanced, and fulfillment of degree requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree as specified in the “University Core Curriculum ” in the Academics section of this catalog and the College of Engineering requirements. Hours required for electives may vary based on course selection and the University Core Curriculum requirements. Electives may be required to satisfy the advanced hour requirement (42) and/or the minimum total hours required for the degree. - A 2.5 GPA is required for engineering technology courses in the major.
- Courses taken to satisfy the technical options in the major must be approved by the academic advisor.
