The department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in speech-language pathology/audiology.

Hours required and general/college requirements
A minimum of 120 semester hours, of which 42 must be advanced, and fulfillment of degree requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree as specified in the “University Core Curriculum ” in the Academics section of this catalog and the College of Arts and Sciences requirements. Major requirements, 39 hours
Completion of at least 39 hours including: Other course requirements
Additional requirements
Students majoring in speech and hearing sciences are required to complete 18 hours outside of the department. Students may elect one of the following:
- A minor of at least 18 hours, including at least 6 advanced; or
- 18 hours, including 9 advanced, selected from two or more departments outside speech and hearing sciences. The courses must be selected in consultation with the student’s faculty advisor.

Hours required for electives may vary based on course selection and the University Core Curriculum requirements. Electives may be required to satisfy the advanced hour requirement (42) and/or the minimum total hours required for the degree. Students should have a degree audit prepared as soon as the major is declared.
To graduate with a major in speech-language pathology/audiology, a student must:
- Maintain a GPA of 2.5 in the major.
- Earn a grade of C or better on all SPHS courses. Students earning less than a C in any one of the SPHS courses will be allowed to retake that course only once.
